This time, the Trend Book team looked for macrotrends at cutting-edge design trend-setting events (iSaloni in Milan, Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, Helsinki Design Week, Seoul Design Festival), as well as at leading jewellery fairs (VicenzaOro, BaselWorld, Inhorgenta). The knowledge gathered at professional trade fairs was supplemented this time, too, by observations of the „pulse of the street” in selected metropolises: Berlin, Shanghai and Lisbon. As a result, 5 macrotrends were selected: 2πr, Anomaly, Mandala, Attention, Next Nature.
These trends were used by students of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk - and for the first time by leading designers from the Association of Goldsmiths - to create visualisations inspired by them using Baltic amber. As in previous years, the photographs of these works are published in the Trend Book and will be presented at a special exhibition accompanying the promotion of the publication during the Amberif International Fair of Amber, Jewellery and Gemstones.
„We hope that the project initiated seven years ago will be continued and developed, and that our work will continue to meet with the appreciation of a professional audience interested in contemporary material culture and contribute to the image recognition of Baltic amber in its most avant-garde design interpretation,” - wrote Professor Sławomir Fijałkowski in the introduction.
