After eliminations in several Baltic towns, the time has come for the grand finale of the 13th Amber Dredging World Championships. The event, scheduled for July 9th and 10th on the beach in Jantar, will be accompanied by numerous concerts, shows, and a popular science conference dedicated to amber, among other things.
The organisers of the 13th World Amber Fishing Championships – the Stegna municipality office – have prepared numerous attractions for the residents of Jantar and holidaymakers spending their holidays on the coast. The main attraction of the programme will be the qualifying rounds, semi-finals and finals in the junior and senior categories, as well as special ones for VIPs, journalists and actors. Those interested in expanding their knowledge of „Baltic gold” can take part in the popular science conference „Amber as an object of cultural heritage protection”. Amber issues will be the subject of the picnic „The World Enchanted in Amber”, led by Dr. Elżbieta Sontag, which will include fun, games and competitions. At the Medyk resort, well-known Warsaw stage actors – Grzegorz Wons, Marcin Troński, Wojciech Wysocki and Marek Siudym – will read amber-themed fairy tales for the youngest. An attraction for slightly older attendees will be the Amber Miss Poland competition.
This annual event will also feature a special delegation from Wieluń – the Amber Trail Team, who will entertain guests with performances, recreating historical scenes and referencing the cultures represented at the European Amber Festival: Celtic, Slavic, and Viking. The programme includes presentations of armed warriors, camp service, ladies, and duels between warriors with different weaponry. Various competitions with attractive prizes will be organised for guests. An additional attraction will be the opportunity to dress up in military attire displayed on exhibition stands and take photos with the warriors.
The World Amber Fishing Championships are being held for the 13th time. The event's aim is to promote amber and the tourist attractions of the Polish coast.
