„I hope this will be a place for all of us and that together we will write the history of Polish artistic jewellery,” said Marcin Tymiński, President of the Association of Goldsmithing Art Creators and President of the Management Board of the Design Promotion Foundation, which conceived the Museum, at the opening ceremony. The intention is for this history to have many chapters describing as much as possible of what has happened and is currently happening on the goldsmithing scene: „Polish creators are the authors of often outstanding works that we would like to systematically show to the world. Our ambition is to find a worthy place for jewellery that is art among other fields of art. It is my dream that people will recognise the names of jewellery makers by looking at their pieces, just as in the case of painting, sculpture or applied art,” Tymiński emphasised.
According to the founders„ vision, the Museum is intended to be merely a ”core" that will attract the entire community of goldsmith artists, while also allowing for closer cooperation with creators representing other fields of art. In addition to exhibitions, plans include meetings with artists, lectures, and workshops with masters of goldsmithing.
Currently at the Museum of Contemporary Jewellery, the exhibition „Green Light” features dozens of works by around 30 artists, mainly affiliated with the Goldsmithing Form Creators Association, as well as other creators from both Poland and abroad. A surprise were the works by Alberto Dávila Quesada from Mexico, the winner of the Grand Prix Amberif Design Award 2019: Kairos. Additionally, works by Paweł Kaczyński, Magdalena and Tomasz Stajszczak, Jolanta and Andrzej Kupniewski, among others, can be seen at the first exhibition., Martin Boguslaw, Art7, Marcin Tymiński, Sławomir Fijałkowski, Andrzej Szadkowski, Sława Tchórzewska and Doroty Ceneckiej. „In this way, the Museum's founders are giving the green light and inviting everyone who loves jewellery, designs and creates it, and has something interesting to say about it in one form or another, to cooperate,” summarised Monika Szpatowicz, curator of the exhibition. But just a green light is not enough for the Museum's creators, who have been waiting for this day for almost two years: „The green light will allow both us and the artists to get moving, and now let's do everything we can to hit the green wave – we've been stuck at red for too long,” Marcin Tymiński calls to action.
