„Unfortunately, our museum's amber exhibition will not be available to visitors on that day. However, on this special night, it is well worth dropping by the Amber Museum to explore the historical exhibition presenting the history of the Foregate Complex and to view contemporary amber jewellery by the well-known S&A brand in the adjacent Upland Gate. This is only a small part of the proposals we have prepared with our partners,” invites Renata Adamowicz, custodian of the Amber Museum.
What else will be able to be seen between 7 pm and 1 am on Targ Węglowy in Gdańsk? At 7.30 pm, Sylwester Malucha will talk about his experiences in amber fishing and will present a lump of amber that he fished out of the sea in 2004 in Sobieszewo. „This nugget weighs about 1 kg and was found during a storm. Mr Sylwester handed it over as a deposit to the Amber Museum, where it has been on display for almost 10 years. It is not often that one manages to find a natural nugget of this size, nor is it often that there is an opportunity to listen to the fascinating stories of a man who has been fishing for amber for many years,” encourages the curator to participate in the meeting. An hour and a half later, at 9 pm, Dr Aleksandra Pudło will deliver a lecture The Other Side of the Barbican Complex Mysteries, about the new historical exhibition which she is co-curating.
Additional attractions will be waiting for visitors in the courtyard of the Amber Museum. There, the S&A Amber Manufacture Gallery has prepared a demonstration of amber processing techniques, and a pair of amber mimes will present exceptional examples of the brand's modern and unique amber jewellery. This company is also the sponsor of the main prize – amber jewellery – in the special lottery. To take part, all you need to do is collect three stamps on your admission ticket: from the Amber Museum ticket office, the Upland Gate, and the Amber Manufacture Gallery. The draw – the highlight of the event – will take place at midnight in the square between the Amber Museum and the Upland Gate. In addition, everyone who collects all three stamps will receive an amber gift at the Upland Gate.

But that is not the only reason to visit the High Gate, which houses the Pomeranian Tourist Information Centre. In the cellars, which are normally inaccessible, it will be possible to admire a photographic exhibition Gdańsk through an amber lens. The photographs were taken by well-known Gdańsk photographers using a camera with an amber lens constructed by Marek Mazur.
In the courtyard of the Amber Museum, Garnizon Gdańsk will stage a 17th-century legend associated with this place about the executioner's daughter. Meanwhile, the square between the Museum and the High Gate will be the venue for drills by the 18th-century Gdańsk Civic Company, and at the High Gate visitors will be welcomed by 19th-century guards issuing passes granting entry.
