The concept was created as part of a larger strategy of the city of Gdansk - the project „Gdansk the World Amber Capital”. It is to be an international artistic festival aimed at promoting Baltic amber as a valuable cultural heritage. Gdańsk Jewellery Week is intended to bring together art, design, craft - enabling artists, designers, merchants, jewellery lovers and the general public to meet. It is a space that brings together professionals and enthusiasts, reinforcing the uniqueness of „Baltic amber” in its various guises.

Gdansk Jewellery Week is not just an event for the industry - it is an open, creative space for everyone. Residents, tourists, merchants - everyone can not only admire jewellery, but also take part in numerous workshops: from polishing amber, through styling with Kasia Kobiel to creative classes with designers. We want everyone to be able to touch amber, create something of their own and spend the whole day at the festival - actively, inspiringly and in style," stressed Monika Szpatowicz, curator of the project.

Part of the event will be the AMBERIF Autumn 2025 fair (4-6 September) - the autumn edition of Europe's largest jewellery and amber fair, which for the first time takes on the formula of an open festival open also to the general public. Gdansk Jewellery Week - events outside the Amber Expo

The organisers have also prepared interesting events outside the Amber Expo to explore amber, contemporary art and design. Many of the events will be available on dates overlapping with Gdańsk Jewellery Week, but they will be available for longer than just these four days.

Amber games through the ages in the Amber Museum - is a story about boards, pawns and dice, which from antiquity to the 18th century accompanied people in rituals, learning and playing. When made of amber - they became not only a tool for games, but also an object of luxury and prestige. Thanks to the exhibition, you can find out what the royal families and medieval monks played, what the lonely aristocrats took on their journeys, and see, among others, the chessboard of King Sigismund III Vasa or a set for playing chess, grinder and triktrak from 1611;

SPOILER ALERT 2026 at the Amber Museum - a cyclical presentation of original jewellery by students and graduates of the Experimental Design Studio at the Design Department of the Gdansk Academy of Fine Arts - documents the search for new aesthetics resulting from the application of digital design and prototyping methods, but also a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional goldsmithing crafts - often with the discreet presence of amber;

AMBERIF DESIGN AWARD 2025 „Relationships” at the Oliwa City Hall of Culture - the AMBERIF DESIGN AWARD International Competition for Jewellery Design with Amber has been promoting contemporary jewellery design and highlighting the artistic potential of Baltic amber for three decades. This year, the competition was held under the theme „Relationships”, prompting designers to explore the links between people, nature, technology and tradition;

From cosmic origins to human choices at the International Amber Association Gallery - is a unique journey by German artist Julia Groos through the history of the universe and the challenges of today. The artist combines amber, wood and cultural symbols to depict both the origins of life on Earth and man's impact on the future of the planet. The exhibition prompts reflection on responsibility and the choice of the path humanity will take.

Why take part in Gdansk Jewellery Week?

The festival aims to build a platform that connects art, design and craft, promoting unique jewellery - including amber in various forms - not only in its traditional form. It aims to engage a wide range of communities - creators, audiences, the industry - and make Gdansk a place of dialogue between creativity and reception, history and the present.
