„In life and work I am guided by my senses and intuition. Many things interest me at the same time. Maybe that is precisely why chaos accompanies me…? – ponders Danka Czapnik. Yet this chaos is not visible either in her jewellery or in the way she talks about it. Everything seems to be well thought out, falling into a cohesive whole. Her latest collection reveals a fascination with ancient jewellery-making techniques, including filigree. This is a continuation of her previous collections, „Totems” and „Tango”, where she was captivated in turn by old objects: watch faces, pieces of jewellery dug up from the ground, old buttons, seals…
In her latest collection, Danka Czapnik plays with silver sheet metal, shaping it to create a third dimension. She searches for the roots of decorative art and translates them into the contemporary language of jewellery, resulting in modern interpretations of hair clips, clasps, bracelets and hoops. „I have created a collection of ornaments closest to my heart: austere metal and amber combined with precious diamonds,” the designer sums up. As she admits herself, this time she approached amber stones with great respect. Instead of cutting them as is her habit, she left them in their found state. They turned out to be interesting because they had been polished two decades ago, and now had naturally acquired a patina. „I liked this double dimension of time captured in the amber,” says Danka Czapnik. White, black and yellow amber will appear on the runway accompanied by rubies, diamonds and transparent citrines.
