The international jury appreciated his pictograms, which are carriers of information and contain an important message. “The designer speaks a universal language: he speaks through jewellery,” summarised the competition coordinator, Barbara Schmidt, during the awards ceremony. The winner himself highly values this award: “I am hugely pleased that these particular works of mine have been recognised, because for me as a designer, they have the greatest value.”
Yesterday was a real “Polish celebration” at the fair in Munich – for the first time in the 10-year history of this competition, a Polish designer was among the laureates. The atmosphere was solemn, there was virtually no end to the congratulations and expressions of appreciation – and it was hard not to get the impression that we all received this award, in a way ;-)
The aim of the Innovationspreis (Innovation Award) competition is to support young, promising designers and ideas that indicate future development directions. Over the 10 years since its inception, it has strengthened its position on the goldsmithing scene and is now considered one of the most important worldwide. The prize is a grant of €2,000 towards a stand at next year's trade fair. At the same time, it is also a kind of pass into the goldsmithing world: as some of the past winners emphasise, it was from this moment that their careers gained greater momentum.
