On 21 May, a group of young people from class 1c of Junior High School No. 7, accompanied by their teachers and competition co-ordinators Mirosława Lenartowicz and Irena Lenga, went to Mikoszewo to search for amber in the sea. After crossing the Vistula by ferry, the expedition participants walked to a spot about an hour's march away, where, due to the specific shape of the coastline and appropriate currents, rafts of „amber sticks” almost always float near the shore. Ewa Magnucka, an amber enthusiast and a friendly teacher from the Automotive School Complex, which received the honourable title of „School on the Amber Trail” in the previous edition of the competition, told the young people about the rules of amber fishing and showed them how to use a sieve. And so, the amber fishing began. As can be seen in the photos, the fishing techniques were varied. Ultimately, it turned out that everyone managed to catch a handful of quite sizeable amber. „Some, especially the boys, got so carried away that they asked to be taken out for a ‘real’ winter storm,” Ewa Magnucka concluded.
We look forward to further, interesting ideas and wish you success.
