Amber Museum finalist for prestigious award

The Amber Museum, a branch of the Gdansk Museum, was among 42 museums from 15 European countries nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) 2025. Four other Polish museums are also among the finalists.

Organised since 1977 by the European Museum Forum, the competition recognises establishments that combine history, culture and education in innovative ways to inspire their audiences.

This year's nominees include museums from Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. The largest number of nominated institutions came from the Netherlands and Poland (5 each) and Spain and Switzerland (4 each). From Poland, the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, the Museum of Photography in Krakow, Krzysztofory Palace, run by the Krakow Museum, and the „Pod Łabędziem” Pharmacy, run by the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz, have also made it to the final round.

The award ceremony will take place on 21-25 May 2025 in Bialystok. The event will be hosted by the Sibir Memorial Museum, the 2024 winner.
