The Amber Craft Competition has been organised by the Goldsmiths and Jewellers Industry Commission of the Pomeranian Chamber of Crafts for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and the International Fair of Gdańsk S.A. since 2003. Its aim is to showcase the professional skills of goldsmiths and young goldsmith apprentices specialising in traditional and modern goldsmithing techniques, and to support vocational training in goldsmithing and encourage professional development. In this way, the organisers wish to create original designs made according to individual needs, and to promote jewellery and goldsmith items made using amber. The competition takes place in two age categories: juniors (persons learning or starting to learn the trade up to 22 years of age) and seniors (goldsmiths and amber craftsmen holding a master craftsman diploma or certificate).
