On 28 November, the competition for diplomatic gifts with amber, announced at the beginning of October by the Office of the President of the City of Gdańsk, was concluded. 13 authors submitted 38 works, which were assessed by a jury composed of: Joanna Grążawska – Head of the Amber Museum in Gdańsk, Ewa Rachoń – representative of the World Amber Council, Anna Zbierska – Director of the President's Office for Promotion of the Municipal Office in Gdańsk, Maciej Buczkowski – Deputy Director of the Office of the President of the City of Gdańsk, Robert Pytlos – Amber Coordinator, Office of the President of the City of Gdańsk.
The jury awarded the following prizes and commendations in three categories:
Diplomatic gift for a woman (with a maximum gross value of PLN 550)
A prize of 2,000 Polish zloty gross for Andrzej Adamski (A2 Art Studio) for a bookmark for a book/album about Gdańsk, made of silver and amber, for demonstrating the exceptional beauty of natural amber and an original idea, reminiscent of the pleasure of reading.
– A distinction for the company BALT from Gdańsk for a pen drive made of silver and amber, for its modern design and the item's multifunctionality. The jury noted the necessity of using natural amber, as is the case with other diplomatic gifts commissioned by the city.
– Distinction for Bogumiła Adamska for her „Silver Purse with Amber,” made from silver, gilded silver, and amber, for the hand-weaving of the item and for treating amber as a treasure and talisman.
OFFICIAL GIFT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE CITY OF GDAŃSK FOR SPECIAL GUESTS VISITING GDAŃSK ON THE OCCASION OF EXCEPTIONAL INTERNATIONAL EVENTS HELD IN THE CITY
– A prize of 2000 Polish zloty gross for Ryszard Wycichowski from Nadarzyn for the Amber Rex pen made of silver and amber, for its manufacturing precision, attention to detail, and solid craftsmanship, as well as its presentation in an aesthetic package.
– Distinction for Ambermoda, a company run by Danuta and Mariusz Gliwiński from Sopot, for a silver and amber necklace, for combining modern design with the beauty of natural amber.
Diplomatic gift for a man (with a maximum gross value of PLN 550)
The jury decided not to award any prizes or commendations in this category. In their reasoning, the jury members stated that the number of works submitted in this category was too small and that none of them were distinguished by original design.
