The collection consists primarily of necklaces, but also several rings. Each one is designed to capture the unique characteristics of amber – in this collection it is black, that is, subjected to heat treatment to achieve the color effect of black. Hence the name Black Dress, although there is also an even more obvious reason for giving it such a name. „This collection is a kind of tribute to Coco Chanel and the black of her famous Little Black Dress: Chanel discovered for fashion dark, raw fabrics that were ignored by contemporary designers, and through unique design she elevated them to the status of luxury wear. Art7 wants to explore just such a facet of amber and show that unconventional design makes jewelry both beautiful and elegant,” says Wojciech Kalandyk, President of Art7.
This elegance is emphasized by unusual details and also by the materials used: gold, silver plated with 24-carat gold, diamonds, pearls, diamonds and Swarovski crystals. In the latest projects, a natural coral has also appeared, whose imprint has been replicated in silver (HORA) and a unique copper mineral (copper mineral), whose shape and structure has been replicated in a rough black amber and additionally adorned with diamonds and black spinels (CUPRUM). Some of them have been appreciated by the juries of competitions: The Amber Ball (SEVENSPACES – 2010), the International Amber Biennale AŁATYR (LIQUID – 2011) and Mercurius Gedanensis (CONCLAVE – 2014).
The exhibition will also be a good opportunity to recall the exhibits – because that is how they should be called given their uniqueness and unrepeatability – such as, among others, the SEVENSPACES necklace, which in 2010 launched the collection, a tribute to the architectural thought of Daniel Libeskind; the experimental ring with liquid and air bubbles inside LIQUID; created from two textures of amber – the rough and polished CONCLAVE necklace; or the already familiar amber lips inspired by Igor Mitoraj’s sculpture, this time in a version with black amber under the name BLACK LIPS.
The desire for satisfaction – this is the main motivation behind creating innovative amber jewelry at Art7. The company, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2014, has a lot to boast about: it is one of the few in the amber industry that is constantly developing, constantly surprising with interesting ideas and solutions, and is consistent in its pursuit of the goal of creating good jewelry.
