The past in this case does not at all mean going back two decades. The earliest works to be presented at the exhibition premiered at the Amberif Fashion and Amber Gala in 2007 under the title Can you imagine? There will also be jewellery prepared for subsequent editions of this fashion event: Street Encounters - 5th Avenue in 2008 and Mysterious Mind in 2009. - all shows were realised in collaboration with the fashion designer Agnieszka Gruszka. As Aleksander Gliwinski announces, there will also be brand new works that „no one has seen before”. And, as he himself admits, they will go well with the latest collection of outfits by Magdalena Arłukiewicz, with whom he will appear in a designer duo for the first time.
Especially since Magdalena Arlukiewicz's latest fashion collection is black. „Asexual, dark, simply anti-fashion”. Why are all the clothes black? „In Japanese tradition, black is the colour of luck, and is said to bring wealth according to Old Japanese beliefs,” explains the designer. She adds, „I deconstructed the clothes and showed a new dimension to the clothes. I was looking for something to show her anti-fashion, as well as a bit of utilitarianism. In fashion, as in any area of life, there are rules. Rules create a framework. Breaking the rules was something that delighted and inspired me.”.
The „Mariacka pod gwiazdami” fashion show by Aleksander Gliwinski and Magdalena Arłukiewicz will be accompanied by a performance by singer Agnieszka Rasalska.
Magdalena Arłukiewicz
Graduate of the University of Gdansk and Fashion Design. Finalist of the Fashion Oscars 2009, winner of the „Fashionable Theatre” theatre costume competition. Participant of three editions of the Amberif Fashion and Amber Gala (2009, 2010, 2011), Warsaw Fashion Street, Gryf Fashion finals and Off Fashion semi-finals. Boldly experiments with fashion. She tries to break the stereotype of common street fashion. In her productions, she wants to cross genre boundaries between fashion and art. She has been fascinated by Japan for many years, which can be seen in her designs. She is not afraid of surprising colour combinations and material textures. She likes to give her collections an individual style through a dose of delicate femininity, skilfully mixed with original nonchalance.
