This is undoubtedly a unique collection, as it is the only private one dedicated to this subject. Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz, co-owner of YES Jewellery and the originator of the YES Gallery, has been collecting what she considers the most interesting examples of contemporary goldsmithing art for 10 years. Her collection currently includes works by over 100 artists, including Jacek Byczewski, Jan Suchodolski, Paweł Kaczyński, Jarosław Westermark, Andrzej Boss, Marcin and Łukasz Zaremscy, and Dariusz Zarański.
The collection, presented for the first time, is open-ended and features works that particularly captivated the owner, have been awarded at major jewellery and goldsmithing competitions, and have also been specially commissioned. The oldest piece dates back to 1974. The entire collection – over 200 works in total, although not all will be displayed at the exhibition – is intended to reflect the current state of contemporary Polish goldsmithing art.
Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz announces that this is not the end of her passion for goldsmithing – in her future endeavours, she will also focus on searching for artistically valuable jewellery from earlier eras.
The exhibition entitled „The Collection of Contemporary Goldsmithing Art by Maria Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz” will be on display until the end of October this year at the YES Gallery in Poznań. Its second vernissage will take place during the Gold Silver Time fair in Warsaw on October 3rd at 12:00 PM (exhibition hall, stand no. 44).
