The exhibition of works created in Lucjan Myrta's studio can be viewed at the new facility of the National Museum from 10th July 2008. It was scheduled to last until 10th December, but it will remain in this location until late spring next year, and then it will move to Warsaw, where it will be presented to the public at the Royal Castle.
This is the largest exhibition of Lucjan Merta's work to date. It features several hundred exhibits, the largest and most important of which is undoubtedly the titular Amber Treasury. Another impressive work premiered at its opening: an English cabinet made of amber, bronze, and ebony, 3.5 metres high and over 2 metres wide. Other exhibits also make an impression: caskets, numerous decorative and functional objects, and natural amber specimens (the author's private collection is considered the largest in the world), as well as the most interesting specimens with inclusions (from a collection numbering over 20,000 pieces).
The collection presented is not static and is being supplemented with new exhibits. Since the exhibition opened, 8 new amber paintings in the impressionist style have been added, as – according to Lucjan Myrta – „it offers the greatest possibilities to highlight the richness of amber's colour variations”. There are references to Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, but also to Gustav Klimt and Alfons Mucha. Lucjan Myrta has announced that the collection will be expanded with another 4 paintings from this series by the end of January next year at the latest.
