Alberto Davila is the winner of the Amber Award in the International Amber Jewellery Design Competition Amberif Design Award 2022. The sponsor of this award – in the form of 1 kg of Baltic amber – is the International Amber Association, which also offers the opportunity to organise a solo exhibition in its MSB Gallery.
The artist, who participated in the Amberif Design Award competition as early as 2019, winning the Grand Prix for a piece on the theme of „Kairos,” created the „Swallows and Meteorites” collection.
A collection exploring various events perceived as cyclical or constant in my life, which at some point came to an end. I contrast the swallow as a symbol of cycles – returns and belonging with the violent figure of a meteorite as a sudden and unexpected event that changes everything. My intention is to show how endings become beginnings and how change is inevitable – says the artist.
The exhibition will feature the „Still Here” bracelet, which received the Amber Prize at the Amberif Design Award 2022 competition, on loan from the Amber Museum in Jarosławiec. The exhibition will be complemented by works by Alberto Davila, presented last year at the „Integrations” exhibition held as part of the SILVER Festival in Legnica. For this exhibition, black and white photographs showcasing fashion and amber jewellery as seen through the artist's eyes – as part of the Fashion Symphony project – were created in the studio of Kinga Gełdon-Czech (Keenys Design).
