The originators of the triptych of exhibitions - the S&A Amber Manufaktura and the Museum of Amber in Gdańsk - were intrigued by the art of amber in a female edition. Meetings with three extraordinary women artists: Danuta Burczik-Kruczkowska, Paulina Binek and Izabela Gutowska, who treat amber in a special way and reserve a prominent place for it in their jewellery, are to give us an answer to the question of whether women are more sensitive to the charms of this stone.
The second exhibition is devoted to the work of well-known Gdańsk artist Paulina Binek, who will present her collection of paintings „painted with amber”, functional objects and jewellery. It will be a kind of small retrospective: „I will show jewellery in which I combine amber with felt and silk, fabric, hemp and cotton twine and hang on steel cables,” - Paulina Binek explains. These works were created over the last few years and the materials used are very characteristic of the artist. The exhibition will also include one of her paintings from a series entitled „Myths” and full of archaeological references. This is also the case with her „Swiatowid” - four brooches assembled together which, when separated, „look” in the four directions of the world. This archaeological-ethnic direction can also be found in the artist's latest jewellery: „In this way, I am returning to themes that were close to me in the mid-1990s, looking for completely new references to the present,” she says.
