It would seem – a gem, a pendant, a amber lamp… This mysterious glow of amber with the columns of diamond guards is an amulet guarding the power that is contained within – the light.
„Beautiful amber specimens are viewed under light – thanks to this, it is easier to spot the extraordinary inclusions that fascinate us, the amber lovers, so much. And it was at just such a moment – when I was looking at a piece of amber under light that I was going to use for my work – that the idea of lighting it from the inside with LED light came to me” – this is how Paweł Waś explains his inspirations from 10 years ago.
In many cultures, light is attributed with magical power – in this case, it was associated with the Hindu festival of Diwali, during which lamps are lit symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, good over evil. This is how the name of the pendant – AMBER DIVALI, or Amber Festival of Light – was born.
The pendant, illuminated with amber light, was created in 2010 with the aim of participating in the Amber Craftsmanship competition, whose theme was „Geometric Figures in Jewelry”. It was made of white gold and adorned with 210 diamonds and 8 beads of unique white amber. The author’s manual skills and aesthetic sense were highly evaluated by the jury – first place in the seniors category.
