We plan for designs originating from our in-house design studio to account for nearly half of the patterns in our collection in the near future. Good design is a direction that works brilliantly in Europe, which is why I am convinced it is also a very good direction for YES Biżuteria. This will give us greater mobility: we will be able to respond more quickly and effectively to market demand. And, what has consistently been important to us for 30 years, a good product and attractive design will continue to be the elements that positively set us apart in the market. Therefore, I invite designers – and we have many talented ones in Poland – who would like to work with us to create a new quality in jewellery design.

In my opinion, the leading themes on the jewellery market this year will be silver and diamonds, and consequently, following the example of other countries, the tradition of giving diamond jewellery will develop here too. Design will certainly gain in importance – the trend towards good design is currently visible in every field. This is due to the fact that Poles are increasingly eager to surround themselves with well-designed, functional and aesthetic objects. This also applies to jewellery, especially silver jewellery. Low-quality items without a brand or an interesting concept will continue to lose ground. The personalised jewellery sector will also keep growing, allowing people to express and emphasise themselves – leaving a woman to simply choose what she wants to say about herself to others at any given moment. Fashion jewellery, usually made of artificial materials, is growing in strength and will continue to do so. As jewellers, we have always had a somewhat lower opinion of it, because it was outside our world, the boundaries of which were defined by precious metals. But if it is well designed and crafted, it doesn't matter much. Its advantage lies in the fact that it is usually cheaper than traditional jewellery and can be changed often, played with. Large designs are currently fashionable, but these – in order to find a customer – must be made from non-precious materials.
Generally, the jewellery world will continue moving towards „slimming down” precious metal jewellery – so that it is light, but still attractive in terms of price and design for the buyer. These raw material constraints mean that the scope for jewellery companies is narrowing, and it is increasingly difficult to offer something truly good.

Magdalena Kwiatkiewicz is the co-founder of YES Biżuteria, where she serves as Commercial Director. She is the owner of the YES Gallery in Poznań and the owner of Poland's only, constantly expanding private collection of contemporary goldsmithing art.
