There was no end to the questions about what kind of stone it was. Modern jewellery made from Baltic amber is practically unknown in Italy. And this means only one thing – huge potential to be capitalised on – that's how Ireneusz Glaza, owner and main designer at CHILLI Jewellery, summarised his participation in Satisfashion Roma.
The event, which also featured Polish fashion designers such as Robert Czerwik, Olga Ziemann, Kovalowe, and Magdalena Arłukiewicz in collaboration with jewellery designer Aleksander Gliwiński, took place in mid-July in the prestigious setting of Palazzo Ferrajoli. It was organised in cooperation with the Polish Embassy in Rome, which in previous years has hosted events accompanying the renowned Rome Fashion Week at its headquarters in Parioli.

The premiere of the latest CHILLI Jewellery amber collection
Satisfashion Roma Ireneusz Glaza chose as the venue for the presentation of his latest amber collection. The audience could view it alongside wedding and evening gowns by the talented fashion designer Barbara Piekut. Its greatest adornment is Baltic amber – a stone that captivates with its uniqueness and multitude of colour variations like no other. The designer combined the most beautiful amber stones, selected for their quality and colour shades, with materials that give them worthy accompaniment: gold and silver, as well as diamonds and Swarovski crystals. With amber in mind, he created settings characterised by modern design based on classical canons of beauty, excellent quality resulting from the combination of 3D technology and manual work, and a luxurious look.
Amber is a visually interesting stone that offers designers many possibilities – I value it most for enabling projects that often couldn't be realised with other stones. What's also great about it is that it's so unexpected – in modern settings, such as those created in my studio, it takes on a completely different character and no longer resembles the jewellery we usually associate amber with – says the designer.
The inspiration for this collection came from nature – primarily the associations evoked by the fantastic worlds hidden within amber nuggets, but also abstract, organic shapes.
The positive surprise caused by the collection in Rome demonstrates that amber still has a lot to offer. Especially when creative designers get their hands on it.
