The institution's collections include exhibits from the famous pre-war collection of the Museum of Natural History and Archaeology of the Free City of Gdańsk. The route of the Amber Road and some of the archaeological finds discovered along it are also presented. The oldest objects in the collection are fragments of ornaments from the late Palaeolithic period (12,000 – 11,000 BCE) and anthropomorphic amulets associated with fertility cults and zoomorphic amulets associated with hunting and forest magic from the Mesolithic period (8,000 – 4,500 BCE).
