Amber Museum (Gdansk Museum Branch)

More than 1,000 amber artefacts - from nuggets with inclusions from 40 million years ago, through an amber forest and an amber chamber, to contemporary artists' designs - are gathered in one of the world's largest amber collections at the Amber Museum in Gdansk.

Inclusion

On the first floor of the Great Mill – the largest mill in medieval Europe, built by the Teutonic Knights around 1350, which now houses a museum – there are exhibits detailing the process of amber formation, a fossilised resin found in various forms on all continents. The second floor displays amber products, including historical pieces showcasing the mastery of ancient amber craftsmen, as well as contemporary pieces, primarily in the form of modern jewellery.
