We want the exhibition to be a space for young designers. The exhibition itself, as its name suggests, is meant to predict what may happen in design in the near future \u2013 says Zuzanna Franczak, the exhibition curator.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In this year\u2019s edition, half of the exhibition consists of diploma projects \u2013 one bachelor\u2019s degree and three master\u2019s degrees. The remaining works were also created in the studio, which consciously emphasizes experimentation and the search for new solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We strive to present selected and concrete projects so that it is in no way a \u201ejewelry exhibition\u201d; rather, it is a proper exhibition of design \u2013 emphasizes Franczak. \u2013 This is still young, and therefore \u2013 and this is a good thing \u2013 idealistic, open to newness and change. A bit impudent in its innovation and proposing a different perspective on the world around us.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This approach fits well with the location of the exhibition. The Amber Museum in Gda\u0144sk is a space strongly associated with local material and jewelry tradition. \u201eSpoiler Alert\u201d does not intend to simply repeat these associations, however.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition takes place at the Amber Museum in Gda\u0144sk \u2013 a place and city so strongly associated with amber and jewelry making. At the same time, unfortunately, we too often encounter very commercial and repetitive elements here, sometimes overly simplified and diluted, which through over-saturation has less and less to do with contemporary design and design \u2013 says the curator.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, there will be little amber in this edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps in a somewhat perverse way, in this edition we are not presenting many works with this local theme \u2013 and important for us as well \u2013 which is amber. This combination of grittiness and contrast is intended to create tension.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

It is a conscious approach. The exhibition at the Amber Museum, which does not primarily aim to be an exhibition about amber, aims to make the viewer associate it with something different. Instead, it proposes design and artistic objects that fall within the broader definition of jewelry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We go beyond the first associations that arise when we hear \u201ea jewelry exhibition at the Amber Museum\u201d. Our brain immediately suggests what we might expect. And that\u2019s when the dissonance appears \u2013 the exhibition turns out to be completely different.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In this sense, \u201eSpoiler Alert\u201d is not just a showcase for young designers. It is also an attempt to test how widely jewelry can be thought about today \u2013 and whether its future really has to look the way our first associations suggest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
