Andrzej Adamski has been engaged in designing and creating jewelry and small goldwork forms for 50 years. He began his professional career in 1977. He graduated from the Gda\u0144sk School of Jewelry and Goldsmithery, and for many years worked at the Gda\u0144sk Cooperative for the Handcrafts of Artistic Production \u201eBursztyny\u201d; since 1998, he has run his own A2 jewelry workshop in Braniewo. Bursztyn has accompanied his work from the very beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The anniversary served as an opportunity to prepare an exhibition that is not a retrospective of the artist\u2019s five decades of activity. \u201eMusical Inspirations\u201d focuses on his latest works and the relationship that Adamski has been building between music and the goldsmith\u2019s craft over the years. The exhibition includes, among other things, original batons, brooches, necklaces, and objects made of Baltic amber and precious metals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the works refers to John Cage\u2019s \u201e4\u201933\u2019\u2019\u201d \u2013 a piece whose performance is based on silence and the sounds of the surroundings. \u201eThe Palace of Juraty\u201d draws its inspiration from an opera. The legend of the Baltic Sea<\/em> Felix Nowowiejski. Among the inspirations was the history of the VIII Symphony by Jean Sibelius. The composer worked on it for years, but ultimately did not complete it. Adamski\u2019s work \u201eVIII \/ \u221e\u201d refers precisely to this nonexistent work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A separate group consists of batuts. The artist has treated the objects associated with the work of a conductor as independent objects. Music thus becomes the starting point for working on form, but at the same time Adamski\u2019s characteristic interest in amber and the possibilities offered by this material do not disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The natural inclusions, color, and shape of individual specimens are an important part of the work. Amber does not only serve a decorative function in these works \u2013 its properties influence the final appearance of the designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201eMusical Inspirations\u201d is Andrzej Adamski\u2019s second exhibition at the Amber Museum. The first, \u201eAmber in a Classical Setting?\u201d, could be seen in Gda\u0144sk in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
