When I saw the red amber beads, I was smitten. I knew straight away they would be perfect for a collection inspired by Mazovian folklore. We associate amber with Pomerania, but after all, it was found and used to create jewellery throughout Poland \u2013 including in Mazovia \u2013 the designer explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Diana was captivated not only by the material itself, but also by the shape of the beads. In her vision, amber harmonised perfectly with chocolate flint originating from the Oro\u0144sko area. Both of these raw materials \u201eget along\u201d brilliantly with black accents inspired by Wilan\u00f3w embroidery \u2013 the most important element of traditional Wilan\u00f3w attire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mazovia in a modern edition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The \u201eMazowsze Serce Polski\u201d collection is a story of local identity, which Diana dresses in forms of contemporary fashion. The inspiration here is Wilan\u00f3w embroidery \u2013 subtle, executed in chain stitch, arranged in rhythmic floral motifs. On cap scarves it is accompanied by the tree of life \u2013 a symbol of rebirth, the cycle and immortality.

The designer used linen fabrics from the Museum of Linen in \u017byrard\u00f3w, woven on vintage looms, giving the collection authenticity and an almost museum-like sensitivity to detail. The buttons were made from chocolate flint, while elements of red amber added nobility, lightness and a touch of magic to the silhouettes. The folk character was complemented by wreaths created by Danusia from \u201eKwiatowe Zakl\u0119cia\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Wilan\u00f3w embroidery?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Diana Walkiewicz notes that Polish folklore is most commonly associated with Podhale or Krak\u00f3w. Mazovia \u2013 her home region \u2013 remained in the shadow of these most recognisable traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I missed fashion that showcases the beauty of our culture. I wanted to create something modern that everyone would be happy to wear, yet rooted in Mazovian tradition. This is our land, our identity \u2013 she emphasises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Radom to Tokyo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The collection was a major success not only in Radom. Before it made its way to the Radom Fashion Show, it was presented in Dubai and Tokyo, where it was also very well received. This gives the designer a real boost \u2013 especially as she has already decided that every year she will create a new collection inspired by a different region of Mazovia.

In a year, the Kurpie Bia\u0142e region will hit the catwalks, and one can expect that they will be in the spotlight once again.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
