The results of the Amber Craft competition, always announced at the Amberif trade fair in Gda\u0144sk, which this year, due to the pandemic, was held online only, were unusually announced during the Gold Expo trade fair in Warsaw. Its 18th edition was tasked not only with showcasing the workshop skills and creativity of jeweller-craftsmen, but also with supporting them in the difficult pandemic situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nIn the current situation, the harsh rules of the market game present a huge challenge for professionals in this field to preserve its beauty and cultivate traditions that attest to national culture. The difficult period of the pandemic brought our industry to a standstill, with many companies collapsing or facing problems. I hope that the existing critical situation will not bring us to our knees and that the competition will continue in the coming years \u2013 summarised Waldemar Sawa, competition commissioner and Head of the Guild of Artistic Crafts in Gda\u0144sk.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The competition was traditionally held in two age categories. The works were judged by a Competition Committee, which included: Ma\u0142gorzata Wokacz-Zaborowska \u2013 chairperson of the competition committee, director of the Pomeranian Chamber of Crafts; Waldemar Sawa \u2013 competition commissioner, master of the Guild of Artistic Crafts; S\u0142awomir Fija\u0142kowski \u2013 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gda\u0144sk, and craftsmen W\u0142odzimierz Luks, Andrzej Miko\u0142ajczyk, and Agnieszka Grabowicz. They awarded the following prizes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in the juniors category:<\/strong>
1st place \u2013 Jagna Ciesielska for her work \u201eHaven on an Amber Hill\u201d
2nd place \u2013 Wojciech \u0141uckiewicz for the work \u201eSunflower\u201d
3rd place \u2013 Izabela Smejda for the work \u201eTreasure of the North\u201d
The distinction was awarded to: Weronika Zar\u0119bska for her work \u201eAmber Trail\u201d and Artur Radkowski for his work \u201eGirl with Amber\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nin the seniors category:<\/strong>
1st place \u2013 Jacek Ostrowski<\/a> for the work \u201eScrewed\u201d
Second place \u2013 Bohdan Ho\u0142ub for the artwork \u201eBeauty and Delicacy\u201d
Third place \u2013 Krzysztof Bondaruk<\/a> for the work \u201eOn the Other Side of the Water's Mirror...\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe \u201eAmber Craft\u201d competition aims to promote the skills of individuals holding journeyman and master qualifications \u2013 both seniors who have been practising the profession for many years, and juniors learning goldsmithing or just beginning their careers. The initiative was born among goldsmith artisans who value quality, professionalism, artistry, and expertise in the art of goldsmithing. Goldsmithing is one of the oldest vocational fields of craftsmanship, and their products are often works of art. The competition is organised by the Branch Commission of Goldsmiths and Jewellers at the Pomeranian Chamber of Crafts for Small and Medium Enterprises in Gda\u0144sk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nIn the work of goldsmiths, technologies, raw materials, and methods of producing items change, but manual skills and artistic flair remain on the first place.
