Twenty jewellery designers from Europe have been invited to participate in the exhibition, the majority of whom have never worked with amber before. They are: Slawomir Fija\u0142kowski<\/a>, Christiane F\u00f6rster, Karl Fritsch, Sophie Hanagarth, Herman Hermsen, Daniel Kruger, Stefano Marchetti, Pavel Opo\u010densky, Annelies Planteijdt, Ramon Puig Cuy\u00e0s, Wolfgang Rahs, Ulrich Reithofer, Philip Sajet<\/a>, Adolfas \u0160aulys, Gisbert Stach<\/a>, Wilhelm Tasso Mattar<\/a>, Manuel Vilhena, Arek Wolski<\/a> My name is Petra Zimmermann. The initiators \u2013 Wim Vandekerckhove from the Villa de Bondt Gallery in Ghent and Professor S\u0142awomir Fija\u0142kowski from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gda\u0144sk \u2013 were primarily keen for the artists to look at amber with an \u2018untarnished\u2019 eye, to be inspired by it. <\/p>\n

The inspiration for them came from legends associated with amber and their own associations with the stone. \u201eWe hoped that no one would reveal better than artists what is not always a conscious reference point for answering the simplest, yet most difficult questions: about the essence of the concept of value \u2013 and not in its economic sense at all. This was achieved brilliantly, and as a co-creator of the project, I have personal satisfaction that the exhibition could become a pretext for discovering the avant-garde nature of the \u201egold of the North\u201d and contribute to the creation of a unique collection of contemporary amber art objects,\u201d says S\u0142awomir Fija\u0142kowski. <\/p>\n
