\u201eThe Trend Book 2011+\u201d was created on the basis of the experience that Slawomir Fijalkowski - a well-known designer who cooperates, among others, with S&A and heads the Laboratory of Applied Forms and Jewellery Design at the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk - gathered at last year's European events: Amberif (Gda\u0144sk), Legnica Silver Festival (Legnica), London Design Festival (London), Baselworld (Basel), Tendence (Frankfurt\/M.), \u0141\u00f3d\u017a Design Festival (\u0141\u00f3d\u017a), Salone Internationale del Mobile (Milan), Premiere Vision (Paris) and this year's Vicenzaoro First (Vicenza). In more than two hundred pages, annotated in Polish and English, the catalogue brings not only knowledge of anticipated trends in design, design and jewellery art, but also inspiration for designers and companies, especially jewellery and amber companies. \u201eWe wanted to show amber in a broader context. We felt that its uniqueness can only be seen when confronted with current design developments around the world. That is why it was presented not as a part isolated from the whole, but part of the world's design heritage,\u201d - said the author. <\/p>\n
Slawomir Fija\u0142kowski identified five leading trends: RE:interpretations, Story Telling, Inspired by Nature, City Guide and Artvertising. These have become an inspiration for the students of the Jewellery Design and Design Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, who are working in five Tricity companies: Art7, S&A, Bibus Menos, Jubilex and Amberstyl made prototypes. \u201eOur students are not afraid to explore, which results in wonderful, inspiring designs\u201d. - summarised the achievements of the ASP alumni by the Vice-Chancellor for Education and Development, Dr Marek Adamczewski. He added: \u201eIt is time for the strength of Gdansk, which is in amber, to manifest itself in design. We look forward to closer cooperation with the city.\u201d <\/p>\n
The exhibition accompanying the publication features 40 works showing modern thinking about amber, innovative but also re-interpreting tradition, using contemporary technical solutions on the one hand and remaining in harmony with the nature of the stone on the other. After the premiere at Amberif, the works will be on display in Gda\u0144sk at the Interior Design, Design & Applied Arts Fair ABOUT DESIGN (25-27.03.11) and during the Amber Week (May 2011). The next stops for the exhibition are the Castle Museum in Malbork and the Z\u0142oto Srebro Czas trade fair in Warsaw. <\/p>\n

However, let us remember that our position as a leader in processing, design and trade is not given to us once and for all. The world is moving fast forward - nothing will strengthen our industry and its position in the world more than education. The \u2018Trend Book\u2019 fits perfectly into this educational formula,\" concluded Zbigniew Strzelczyk, President of the National Amber Chamber of Commerce, a partner in the project.
