{"id":12867,"date":"2008-07-17T13:10:10","date_gmt":"2008-07-17T11:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.amber.com.pl\/wystawa-dziel-lucjana-myrty-w-gdanskiej-zielonej-bramie\/"},"modified":"2025-12-07T18:47:37","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T17:47:37","slug":"exhibition-of-lucjan-myrtas-works-in-gdansks-green-gate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amber.com.pl\/en\/aktualnosci\/wystawa-dziel-lucjana-myrty-w-gdanskiej-zielonej-bramie\/","title":{"rendered":"Exhibition of Lucjan Myrta's works at Gda\u0144sk's Green Gate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The National Museum in Gda\u0144sk has installed a collection of impressive works from Lucjan Myrta's studio in the representative halls of the Green Gate \u2013 a structure, although incorporated into the so-called water gates leading into the city on the Mot\u0142awa embankment, that from the outset served the honorary function of a seat for Polish monarchs visiting Gda\u0144sk. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This collection, which has been growing for 30 years, is constantly increasing in number and the scale of its exhibits. The formal opening of the exhibition took place on Tuesday, 15 July 2008, with the participation of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Jan Koz\u0142owski, who presented Master Lucjan with the medal \u201eMeritorious for Culture Gloria Artis,\u201d awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bogdan Zdrojewski.<\/p>\n<p> The exhibition appears considerably more magnificent than during the six-year display at the Main Town Hall entitled \u201eJewels of the Sea,\u201d although a considerable number of items previously acquired by the Historical Museum of the City of Gda\u0144sk have been removed from the collection. They have been more than compensated for by new, enormous objects, mainly furniture: a treasury (after which the exhibition is named) with supplements in the form of a wall table and a massive clock (120 kg in weight \u2013 sic!), and a nearly 4-metre tall, ebony English-style cabinet, beautifully decorated with multi-coloured amber mosaics depicting fantastical and exotic birds.<\/p>\n<p> The exhibition opens with a unique happening in an era of raw material shortages on the market: large aquariums with 71 submerged amber chunks of unique size, plus 20,000 polished amber nuggets with organic inclusions. No amber museum can boast such a collection.<br \/> Unfortunately, the earlier announcement of the creation of an amber department at the National Museum did not materialise, and the exhibition will only last until 10 December 2008.
